(1) Overview
Progress in Biological Sciences is a bi-annual journal published by the University of Tehran Press, Tehran, Iran. It provides an international forum for biologists, and covers the entire range of the biological sciences including Animal Biology, Biochemistry and Biophysics, Cell and Molecular Biology, Genetics, Microbiology and Microbial Biotechnology, Plant Sciences, Environmental Sciences and Biotechnology. The journal accepts various types of manuscripts including Original Research Papers (Regular Papers), Review Articles, Short Communications, Viewpoints, and Letter to the Editor.
(2) History of the Journal
From 1968 to 2009, the Faculty of Science, University of Tehran published Journal of Science, which covered all fields of fundamental sciences, from basic to applied perspectives. In 2009, along with changes in the structure of the University of Tehran units, the College of Science was established. The college decided to divide the Journal of Science into more specialized issues. ‘Progress in Biological Sciences (PBioSci)’ was thereupon established to cover papers in biological sciences.
